PROJECT SUE

PROJECT SUE – was born from a necessity to help my mother sleep. My mother is Sue, she is going on 17 years plus with dementia and Alzheimer’s.

My father slept with a CPAP (breathing machine) for anyone who has experience with a CPAP machine they have a distinct noise when they run much like that of a small jet engine.

That being said . . . when my father had to leave my mom to spend some time in a medical rehab facility, my mother had a very difficult time sleeping.

After observing this and the difficulty my mother had sleeping we decided to try something completely different. We went and found that on YouTube there was a file that contained 10 hours of CPAP machine noise.

We downloaded the YouTube video and put the audio on a extra laptop we had sitting around. Then we took the laptop and turned on the audio of the CPAP and placed the laptop under my mothers bed.

The results were phenomenal my mother slept like a baby – problem solved !!!

Fast forward to PROJECT SUE . . .

After the great success of the CPAP on the laptop we elected to try something new.

We ordered digital voice recorders from the Internet.  Upon receiving the digital voice recorders, we sent them to siblings, relatives and friends of my mother.  All we asked of those whom would participate is would they please use the voice recorders to capture stories, songs, bible reading or anything that one might wish to say or impart to my mother.

We packaged up the recorders, included instructions and pre-paid return envelopes then shipped them out to everyone.  Within two weeks we started to get the “loaded” recorders back in our hands.

We took each recorder and saved the audio files to the same laptop and started building our library of audio files and stories for my mother to listen too.
